LAWN BOWLING AS A SPECTATOR SPORT? IT CERTAINLY CAN BE!
On Sunday, October 30th, starting at 8:45 AM, you have an opportunity to watch a very competitive tournament at the Laguna Beach LBC. The competitors will be many of the best bowlers in the Southwest Division.
Each year, every Club in the Division is invited to enter one 5 Man All-Star team to play 14 end Pairs and Triples in both the morning and afternoon. Following the afternoon matches, there will be an 18 point Singles match and a 14 end Rinks match. The six combined scores determine the winner.
Newport Harbor’s 5 Man All-Star team will be Dave Breedon, Charlie Herbert, Phil Luth, Bruce Williams and Mike Ruggles. The weather forecast is excellent, so let’s brave the parking problem, show support for our team and enjoy some time at this beautiful venue.
Newport Harbor LBC hosted the Australian Police Lawn Bowling Association on October 20th. They came from all over Australia and joined us for our Thursday Pot Luck social bowling. Ray Norris has been corresponding with them for about 2 years to make this visit happen. They joined in with our members to have a very competitive game with Pot Luck dinner following. Cathy MacDonald worked hard to make the clubhouse look beautiful and joined with Susan Weaver to organize the food. Our members brought wonderful salads and desserts which were most appreciated by all who were there.
