The last summer BBQ for NHLBC was held on Sunday. Although it was HOT out, 72 members came to spend the day together bowling (Dave Phillips did an outstanding job organizing the bowls game) and feasting on pulled pork, brisket & chicken. Salad, shrimp and ice cream topped off the day. A great big THANK YOU to the New Bowlers who volunteered and hosted this BBQ…what a great group! Lynda Bentall, Norm Bianchi, Maureen Flanagan, Chris & Debby Gaal, Gayle Inbody, Rick Mowdy, Jim Olson, Nick Novicks, Laurie Ruiz, Peggy Strong, Diane & Sam Wenzel, Bill Willis & Bob Wolfe. (Assisted by: John Groothuis, John Fearnley, John & Cathy MacDonald, Tom & Barbara Taylor)
28 members participated in a blind draw for the Vet - Novice Tournament. Two 12 end games were played in excessive heat. At the end of the day, even though all bowlers played great games, there could only be one #1! Good job Mike & Dennis.
Congratulations to the Winners!

26 NHLBC Members enjoyed the JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory) tour. After an informative speech (explaining about the relationship between JPL, Cal Tech & NASA) and a short video on space (Journey to the Planets and Beyond), there was a facilities tour of the von Karman Visitor Center, the Space Flight Operations Facility, and the Spacecraft Assembly Facility. Dinner afterwards at Northwoods Inn topped off an enjoyable day! Thanks to Barbara and Tom for organizing!
