12 members from NHLBC made the trip up to Holmby Park in LA and a nice time was had by all. Always nice when we have opportunities to support our fellow SoCal clubs!
Last month, two US teams (men and women) traveled to China to compete in both the Tiger Bowls and China Open tournament events. The women's team finished with the silver medal at the Tiger Bowls and Bronze at the China Open. Congratulations on some great bowling!
10 NHLBC Members enjoyed a trip to the recently renovated Petersen Museum. The highlight of the trip was a visit to "the Vault" with cars never seen before (round door Rolls Royce, Saddam Hussein's Mercedes-Benz Limo, a Pierce Arrow, a 1914 Chevy, Model T...just to name a few on the 90 minute tour).
There was also a Porsche & Ferrari Exhibit which the group found very interesting. One of the eye-catching exhibits of hand-crafted machine-work highlighted etched metal work on brake drums and radiators. The group also had lunch at Drago Restaurant and were afforded some free time to explore 3 levels of cars!
Quite a few Newport players made the trip down to San Diego for some brisk winds and challenging competition against fellow bowlers and the natural surface at Balboa Park.
Phil Dunn was on the winning team at the end of the two day tournament and 8 others from Newport played through into Sunday: Charlie Herbert, Scott Roberts, Jim Wysopal, Ron Gill, Kirby Greenlee, Bill Brault and Matt Bauchiero.
Other Newport players were: Bruce Williams, Jim Olsen, Mike Ruggles, Andrew Dufresne, Tad Dutch, Steve Monfre, Lou Cohen, Bill Buchanan, Brian Mulvaney, and Ed Quo
On Sunday, March 18th, the club hosted the second Club Tournament of the year with the St. Patrick's Mixed Pairs. It was a very full field and some great bowling was on display (as well as a lot of green!).
