The board has voted to award two members with honorary membership.
Jim Altobelli has been an enthusiastic member since 1991. He ran the tournaments for a number of years introducing some creative prizes and incentives for players to join in the competitions. He shared his enthusiasm for the game through teaching. He was instrumental in getting us the shuffle board that so many of you enjoy playing. Many of you know him and know that he has a wicked sense of humor. We look forward to him coming back soon.
Bob Washer lives across the street from the club. You may have seen him and his lovely dog Maggie at tournaments and social bowling. He loves the game and enjoys the company of bowlers.
They were both thrilled to be made honorary members.

The President's Cup singles was held last Saturday. Chuck Muser arranged for the 32 players to play 3 twelve point games. The competition was fierce but at the top of table after the 3 games, there were four players: Tom Taylor, Dave Breedon, Charlie Herbert and Arun Kumar. Those four players played 2 fifteen point games to determine their places in the contest. Charlie Herbert beat Arun Kumar in a fine exhibition of international quality bowling for first place. Both he and Arun bowl internationally, Charlie for the US and Arun for Fiji. Tom and Dave fought for third and fourth place in another exciting game. Points for this tournament count towards NHLBC Bowler of the Year.

Tucked away amidst a live oak grove on the banks of Santiago Creek in Modjeska Canyon lies the century-old home of world renowned actress Madame Helena Modjeska. Named for the grounds’ resemblance to the Forest of Arden in the Shakespearean play, “As You Like It,” Arden is designated a National Historic Landmark.
NHLBC Members toured the Helena Modjeska House & Gardens on 3/29/2017. Fascinating bit of history located in Modjeska Canyon. A wonderful docent gave an informative tour and insight into the great screen star of the 1870’s, Helena Modjeska from Poland. After the 2 hour tour everyone drove over to Silverado Café for lunch. Fun day for everyone!
